I had been despairing that we hadn't seen dolphins for a year or more when a TVFTDO spotter called to say that cruise ship Spirit of Discovery was passing close to the shore. And what is that in front of its bow? Yep, a dolphin.

An early alert allowed me to snap a fair few pix of a school opf dolphins which came in the river this morning.

Possibly as many as twenty although they split into two groups. They entered the river twice, likely chasing food.

The leading boats taking part in this years Fastnet all passed close to Dartmouth. First crossing the end of the river was Zoulou. So fast I nearly missed the shot.

A wonderful sight. And finally arrived in third place. Most of these leading multihulls were doing about 30 knots at this point. (that's nearly 35 miles per hour)

The overall winner of the Fastnet was Lazartigue with skipper Tom Laperche. He and his crew finished the gruelling race in One day, seventeen hours eighteen minutes and four seconds. They were not hanging about.
